SECOND HAND SMOKING(PASSIVE SMOKING)

Smoking is injurious to health :

Second hand smoking is a mixture of the smoke that comes from the burning end of a cigarette , cigar , or , pipe , and the smoke breathed out by the smoker.

It contains more than 7,000 chemicals , hundreds of those chemicals are toxic and about 70 can cause cancer.

Health effects of secondhand smoke include :
  • Ear infections in children
  • More frequent and severe asthma attacks in children
  • Heart disease and lung cancer in adults who had never smoked
There is no safe amount of secondhand smoke. Even low levels of it can be harmful. The only way to fully protect nonsmokers from secondhand smoke is not to allow smoking indoors.

Secondhand smoke is associated with disease and premature death in non smoking adults and children. Exposure to secondhand smoke irritates the airways and has immediate harmful effects on a person's heart and blood vessels.
It increases the risk of heart disease by about 25 to 30%. exposure to secondhand smoke also increases the risk of stroke by 20 to 30%.

Secondhand smoke exposure during pregnancy has been found to cause reduce fertility , pregnancy complications , and poor birth outcomes , including impaired lung development  , low birth weight , and preterm delivery.

Children exposed to secondhand smoke are at increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome , ear infections , colds , pneumonia , bronchitis , and more severe asthma. Being exposed to secondhand smoke slows the growth of children's lungs and can cause them to cough , wheeze , and feel breathless.

There is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke. Even low levels of secondhand smoke can be harmful.

Are We Brainwashed During Sleep?

In a new study, researchers suggest that tonight while you sleep, something amazing will happen within your brain. Your neurons will go quiet. A few seconds later , blood flow out of your head . Then, a watery liquid called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) will flow in, washing through your brain in rhythmic, pulsing waves. The study is the first to illustrate that the brain's CSF pulses during sleep, and that these motions are closely tied with brain wave activity and blood flow. The research was conducted by a team from Boston University. Earlier studies have suggested that CSF flow and slow-wave activity both help flush toxic, memory impairing proteins from the brain. As people age, their brains often generate fewer slow waves. In turn, this could affect the blood flow in the brain and reduce the pulsing of CSF during sleep., leading to buildup of toxic proteins and a decline in memory abilities. Although researchers have tended  to evaluate these processes separately, it now appea...

Lockdown induced Painful periods ?

PAINFUL PERIODS IN LOCKDOWN :  Many women have complained of painful and erratic periods in the last three months. The nationwide lockdown resulting from COVID-19 pandemic has affected the menstrual cycles in a mysterious way , bringing unprecendented changes in the flow , duration and pain scale. "Women have faced high-stress levels during lockdown due to uncertainity of life , work , resultant financial crisis, etc. Balancing home and work has also been a problem. Stress hormone 'cortisol' has a direct effect on periods. It can cause  a considerable delay in periods or no periods at all. STress can also raise insulin imbalance in the body which gives way to the secretion of the leptin hormone. This causes cycles to be delayed by 7 to 8 days or more. The reason that women are experiencing painful and erratic periods during the lockdown is sttress, change in sleeping patterns , irregular diet and even excessive exercising. "Cortisol and the hypothalamic pituitary axis ...

Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes , put nicotine into your lungs and bloodstream, and they do it without the smoke and tar of a regular cigarette, but other harmful things can get into your body when you vape. That especially true if you use flavored cigarettes. Some chemicals in e- cigarettes can irritate the airways in your lungs. This can cause problems. Studies have found that flavorings like cinnamon can cause inflammation of lung cells. How do e-cigarettes work ? E- cigarettes heat a liquid called e- liquid or e-juice to turn it into aerosol(vapor). E-cigarettes users inhale this into their lungs. How vaping can affect your Lungs Ove...
